A considered, fun and carbon positive temporary structure to counter the culture of short-term urban interventions.
Playful architecture for people at play— created using locally sourced, recycled materials that highlight the good work of innovative sustainable companies.
Designed in partnership with Eke Panuku, these vibrant, temporary changing sheds anchor and enhance the experience of swimming and diving at Karanga Steps.
Built with a carbon positive commitment, they transform waste materials into something playful and inviting—an approach that defines our design ethos.
Clad in Vulcan timber shingles made from rejected or damaged offcuts, the structures embrace imperfection, giving discarded material new purpose. Inside, the walls and roof are formed from Cleanstone panels - an innovative local material composed of recycled fishing nets, plastic bags and packaging waste. Translucent and softly luminous, the panels bathe the interior in diffused light, removing the need for additional lighting.
More than just practical amenities, these sheds embody a fresh perspective on urban design—where sustainability, creativity, and functionality merge to create unexpected joy in the cityscape.
